Eclectic System

Eclectic System

3DMT has evolved from various directions in manual therapy and has emerged from the field. Movements and postures were being observed and evaluated again by parameters. From this has evolved a theory.

Observations

1. TOTAL / MACRO   moving and posture pattern
How does someone move, how does someone stand or sit. In which direction does someone look, cervical rotation, crossing legs, crossing arms, etc.

2. LOCAL / MICRO joint position internally
- how is the position of the joint(s) in space
- how is their formform
- what is the condition of the cartilage
- what is the condition of the ligaments, their strength and stability
- whats is the condition of the muscles; strength. length, coordination

Amazement and Interest

Arising from these observations are: Amazement and Interest

Because each person has their own specific movements and postures, by which anyone can be recognized, even from a distance, it is important to see as many people as possible. Then you can better distinguish one person with their own movements from the other;
=> Recognition of postures and movements, and their patterns.

Recognizing these patterns and feeding knowledge from anatomy and physiology provides information about the movement pattern;
=> Predicting these patterns

The sequence of movements in any capacity (speed, force, direction), will give insight in understanding the necessary structures which create the movement;
=> Recognizing necessary structures

Observation with its accessory description of why it moves gives, besides providing insights, also predictive value of other movements and joints;
=> Developing a theory

The anatomical and physiological parameters are already known, but do not provide guidance for the description of this new theory. Therefore, there is consensus on the need to use terminology;
=> Developing a language (in addition to the already known anatomy, physiology, pathology)

I can test the practice with the new language ....
=> Theory adapts to practice

It should be noted that many effective therapies may be often not sufficiently substantiated and many theoretically-based therapies have little or insufficient objective result. It can be seen that not all practical can be theoretically substantiated.

Nowadays everything has to be evidence-based practice. But in case of 3DMT we speak of practice-based evidence.

Observations of the components are necessary, but more so, the observations of the whole are of interest. Therefore, the perception for 3DMT goes from global to specific, total to local, from macro to micro. Understanding the consistency of seeing large and small, is the basis of 3DMT.Within 3DMT there are various frameworks that we should consider, in which we assume that the body is balanced to the ground or sitting on a chair;

- Gravity
- Center of gravity of the body
- Support surface on the floor
- Partial point of gravity

What we also have to take into account is its three dynamic factors, mainly the
- Gravity
- Musclepower
- Own tension of the spine (= intrinsic equilibrium as an expression of the disco-ligamentous tension-balance)
